Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality nursing care in the Emergency Department, including assessment, prioritization, interventions, and ongoing monitoring of patients and families.
- Serve as Charge RN when assigned, coordinating patient care, delegating tasks, and leading a multidisciplinary team to optimize workflow and safety.
- Conduct triage, determine initial management priorities using standardized triage criteria, and maintain clear communication with patients, families, and the care team.
- Administer medications and manage invasive and non-invasive procedures within the scope of practice, responding promptly to clinical changes and emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians, ancillary services, and support staff to ensure timely diagnostics, treatments, and safe patient disposition.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care; provide discharge instructions and appropriate referrals as needed.
- Uphold infection prevention, patient safety, and documentation standards; maintain current patient information on communication boards and in the electronic record.
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department acute hospital RN experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment with rotating shifts
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills; commitment to patient-centered, relationship-based care
