Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; monitor maternal and fetal status; administer medications as permitted by policy.
- Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff at various levels, and coordinate care with other disciplines while using critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.
- Collaborate with obstetric, anesthesia, neonatal, and other teams to coordinate comprehensive care for labor and delivery patients.
- Document care accurately in patient records; ensure patient safety, privacy, and regulatory compliance; respond to changes in patient condition and escalate as needed.
- Support a family-centered approach, provide education to patients and families, and assist with discharge planning per unit protocols.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state-specific); licensure for California will be validated for this assignment.
- Ability to work nights and 12-hour shifts as part of a travel assignment lasting 13 weeks.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise nursing staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity obstetric setting.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation accuracy, and patient safety focus.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced hospital environment.
