Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (Adolescent - Inpatient) in Hilo, Hawaii. This is a travel, temporary assignment beginning 08/10/2026 for 13 weeks on a 3x12 rotating shift. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide direct nursing care for adolescent patients with behavioral health needs, including crisis prevention and de-escalation as appropriate
- Administer medications and therapeutic treatments per physician orders; monitor for adverse effects and response
- Conduct patient and family teaching about diagnoses, treatment plans, safety, and coping strategies
- Document assessments, interventions, and responses in Meditech; participate in rounds and handoffs with the care team
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other disciplines to implement individualized care plans
- Maintain unit operations, ensure patient safety, and adhere to unit policies (no float to other departments)
- Participate in orientation and mentorship as part of onboarding
Requirements
- Hawaii RN license required by start date
- Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience
- BLS and crisis prevention training (NCI or equivalent) required
- Ability to work 8- or 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights; must be available for weekends and holidays as needed
- Proficiency with EMR (Meditech) and ability to document entries accurately
- Experience on an inpatient adolescent behavioral health unit; team-based care environment
