Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ER, including triage, initial and ongoing assessments, monitoring, and timely documentation.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, monitor responses, and adjust care as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, other RNs, and allied staff to implement robust care plans and support patient throughput.
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, manage IV access and related interventions, and coordinate emergent responses per established protocols.
- Document accurately in the electronic health record; communicate clearly with patients and families while maintaining safety, privacy, and infection control standards; perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments as ordered when applicable.
Requirements
- RN licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in the submitted unit specialty within the last 3 months
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, and PALS (American Heart Association) required
- Crisis management: CPI or TEAM required
- Neurology/stroke: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
- Additional: Ability to work the listed shift and ER environment
