Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to ER patients using the nursing process and evidence-based practices
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments, triage, monitoring, medication administration, and IV therapy
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, and case management; participate in discharge planning and coordination of care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record; ensure accurate handoffs and continuity of care
- Respond to emergencies; participate in resuscitation and code situations as needed; promote patient safety and a healing environment
- Supervise and coordinate care activities of various levels of nursing staff during the shift
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in California (in good standing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification from an approved vendor
- Minimum of two years of recent ER or acute care nursing experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Proficiency with EPIC or similar EMR systems preferred
- Ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced, high-acuity ER setting
