Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for ICU patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with other disciplines.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments per plan, and document care accurately.
- Perform assessments, contribute to care planning, and reassess as patient conditions evolve in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Respond to emergencies with critical thinking and independent judgment; prioritize patient safety and timely interventions.
- Educate patients and families as appropriate and provide support to enhance understanding of care plans.
Requirements
- Active California RN license (permitting practice in the state)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- ICU experience (minimum 1 year) in a critical care setting
- Ability to perform 12-hour day shifts in an ICU environment (36 hours per week)
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with RN licensure in California
- Strong communication, assessment, and teamwork skills; ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting
