Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – Inpatient Rehabilitation | Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. This travel, temporary assignment begins on 08/03/2026 and runs for 13 weeks. Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services to inpatients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, following the established plan of care.
- Assess patient status, contribute to treatment planning, and document progress in accordance with charting standards.
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve activities of daily living, upper and lower extremity function, gait, balance, and cognitive-motor skills; adapt tasks to patient goals.
- Educate patients and families on ADLs, safe mobility techniques, energy conservation, and the use of adaptive equipment; reinforce training for caregivers as appropriate.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (recovery-focused nurses, therapists, social work) to support discharge planning and transitions of care.
- Maintain accurate records, ensure safety during therapy sessions, and communicate changes in patient condition to the supervising OT and team.
Requirements
- Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant credential; NM licensure or eligibility to practice in New Mexico.
- Associate degree from an ACOTE-accredited program (or equivalent educational background for OT practice).
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or related settings is preferred.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to work within an electronic health record system.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment; available to cover the listed shift and schedule.
- Agency requirement: NM Caregivers account must be established with the employing agency for assignment processing.
