Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care for laboring and postpartum patients in the obstetric unit, with attention to maternal and fetal status.
- Conduct fetal monitoring and respond to non-reassuring tracings; manage labor progress and pain control per protocol.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and supportive therapies; assist with deliveries and postpartum procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesia, neonatology, and nursing colleagues to implement and adjust care plans.
- Document thoroughly in the electronic health record (Cerner); ensure accurate charting and NICU-related documentation when applicable.
- Support newborn stabilization and care in a Level 2 NICU context; coordinate transfers and discharge planning; uphold infection control and safety standards.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (RN)
- Labor & Delivery experience required; NICU Level 2 experience preferred; postpartum experience desirable
- Certifications: NRP, Intermediate fetal Monitoring, ACLS, BLS
- NICU experience required; Cerner experience required
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts; 3x12-hour day schedule; hospital-based obstetric care environment
- Labor and postpartum care experience in a high-acuity setting
