Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care for patients in the emergency department, including data collection, assessment, and documentation
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate with physicians and other team members, and adjust plans as patient needs evolve
- Administer medications and treatments per orders; monitor responses and manage potential complications
- Supervise and coordinate tasks across nursing staff, delegating duties appropriately and ensuring patient safety
- Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education to support continued care after discharge
- Document care and interventions accurately in the electronic health record and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during codes and high-acuity events
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of California
- BLS certification (CPR) required; additional AH-approved BLS variants accepted per policy
- ACLS certification required
- PALS (AHA) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- EPIC and Cerner experience required
- At least two years of recent RN experience in acute care or emergency settings
- BSN preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and participate in discharge planning and education
