Responsibilities
- Provide quality, professional nursing care to a mixed patient population in Med Surg and EICU, following the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, document, evaluate).
- Monitor patient condition, respond to changes, notify providers of significant changes, and manage life-threatening situations per policy and standards.
- Administer medications (including IV therapy) with high accuracy; document in the EMR; verify orders and ensure timely execution.
- Initiate and document patient/family education, discharge planning, and coordination of care with the health team.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff; delegate tasks appropriately; maintain a safe, infection-controlled environment.
- Observe, record, and communicate significant events or reaction to treatments; adapt care plans to changing patient needs.
Requirements
- Wisconsin RN license (active)
- ADN required; BSN preferred
- BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire
- ACLS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- PALS encouraged
- Must be comfortable with both Med Surg and eICU patient populations
- Intermediate computer skills; proficient with EMR and order verification
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, travel assignment and adapt to changing unit needs
