Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations for acute care patients and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, gait and balance training, functional mobility activities, and appropriate modalities.
- Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and adjust the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families on treatment goals, home exercise programs, safety, and discharge planning to support successful transitions.
- Maintain patient safety, follow infection control protocols, and ensure compliant documentation and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree: Required; only if obtained license on or after January 2016
- Licensure: Physical Therapy licensure in all applicable states of practice required
- Certifications: CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS or HS-BLS or RQIBLS) certification required
- Additional: Valid Driver’s License and must be at least 21 years of age
- Experience/Education: Active eligibility or licensure to practice physical therapy in the listed setting; ability to work in a hospital-based acute care environment
