Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult med/surg patients in the Acute Med unit, including ongoing assessment, vital sign monitoring, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and routine procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and the broader health care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition, respond to emergencies, and escalate concerns promptly to the medical team.
- Document all care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record; ensure clear communication during handoffs.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, manage lines and devices, and assist with procedures per hospital policy.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-discharge care.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med/Surg or an acute medical-surgical setting.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association).
- Availability for a 13-week travel assignment on a 12x3 night schedule (7:00 pm–7:30 am).
- No local candidates within 50 miles of the assignment location.
- Ability to work in a hospital Med/Surg environment as part of a multidisciplinary team.
