Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the emergency department, including initial assessment, triage, and ongoing monitoring.
- Administer medications, establish IV access, and manage high-acuity treatment according to ER protocols.
- Perform procedures within scope and assist physicians and the ED team as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and ensure timely communication with receiving units.
- Monitor patient status, respond to rapid changes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to ensure patient safety and appropriate disposition (discharge, admission, or transfer).
- Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and follow-up instructions as appropriate.
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York (or eligibility as applicable)
- ACLS and BLS required; PALS certification required
- ER nursing experience required
- Ability to work 3x12 night shifts in a fast-paced ED
- Strong communication, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform in a hospital setting and follow established ED protocols
