Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients in preoperative, Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery
- Monitor vital signs, airway status, incision sites, temperature, and overall stability; identify potential complications
- Assess pain control, fluid status and perfusion; respond to deterioration and escalate as needed
- Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to optimize recovery pathways
- Manage equipment and supplies (e.g., Meditech documentation, PCA pumps, Pyxis, IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, warming devices) and ensure patient safety during recovery
- Document assessments, interventions and patient progress; communicate changes to the care team and coordinate transfers as appropriate
Requirements
- Hawaii RN license active by start of assignment; if not currently in possession, apply upon acceptance
- BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; PALS recommended and may be required for specific positions
- 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; may substitute for PACU experience
- Valid professional license in the state of practice
- Ability to work in a PACU/ASU environment; flexibility for shifts that vary in length and timing
- Flu vaccination proof or facility-approved exception (medical or religious) required prior to contract start; flu vaccine can be administered during employee health clearance
- arrival requirement: must arrive the Thursday before the start date to attend the employee health appointment
