Responsibilities
- Prepare for cardiovascular surgical cases by accurately setting up the sterile field and operative instrumentation.
- Assist the surgical team by retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during procedures; maintain aseptic technique.
- Scrub CV cases, including open-heart procedures, solo or with a second scrub; perform instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN according to standards.
- Maintain equipment inventory and assist with room turnover, cleaning, and transport of supplies and patients as needed.
- Document case data in the electronic medical record and participate in routine clerical and patient-flow duties; respond to unit needs and support call requirements.

Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred
- Certifications: CST or TS-C (NCCT) required; CPR/BLS from an approved vendor required; CNA preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent CV OR scrub technician experience; open-heart experience strongly preferred; EPIC experience required
- Licenses: Current nursing license per the state of assignment (as applicable)
- Skills: Ability to scrub open-heart CV cases, either solo or with a second scrub; comfortable with 50% on-call as assigned; strong aseptic technique and instrumentation knowledge
