Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments via interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients in the behavioral health setting
- Perform nursing diagnoses of medical and emotional status and recommend treatment options
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans
- Administer psychotropic drugs and other medications; document reactions and responses
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff; monitor vital signs and manage pain as indicated
- Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physicians’ written orders
- Ensure patient confidentiality and accurate records, including progress notes and related documentation
- Perform administrative tasks (filing, answering phones, computer documentation) as needed
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry experience or competency
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Ability to work in a hospital-based behavioral health/psychiatric unit
