Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job
Registered Nurse – PCU travel assignment in Plattsburgh, New York. Start date: 09/21/2026 for a 16-week assignment on a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit with telemetry. Pay: $2,638 to $2,686 per week. Shift: 3x12 Nights. This travel temporary assignment requires flexible orientation and float coverage as part of the unit’s Resource Float team.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, patient-centered nursing care for adults on the PCU with cardiac and hemodynamic concerns, including ACS, post-PCI, heart failure, and related conditions; perform frequent assessments and documentation
- Establish and maintain IV access; administer IV medications, including insulin drips and cardiac drips, and adjust rates per protocol with careful monitoring for adverse effects
- Maintain continuous telemetry monitoring; interpret ECG rhythms, recognize urgent changes, and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate to the medical team
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and the float team to coordinate patient care; perform accurate EPIC documentation and participate in discharge planning and patient education
- Ensure patient safety and quality of care by following unit protocols for drips, post-cath care, starting IVs, and other critical procedures; manage equipment and patient needs in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families and the health care team; contribute to handoffs and care coordination across shifts
Requirements
- Active New York RN license or proof of application with applied date; NY licensure processing may take 6–8 weeks
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Experience: minimum 1 year of telemetry/PCU experience and 1 year of general RN experience
- Education: RN degree from an accredited program (education details not otherwise specified in the notes)
- EMR: Epic experience within the past 2 years
- Ability to work in a hospital PCU setting, float to appropriate units, and participate in a 3x12 night shift schedule; eligible for assignment including holiday coverage
