Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg travel assignment in Rochester, New York, starting 05/11/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay will be $2,060 to $2,192 with 12-hour shifts. This travel role is housed in a high-volume emergency department that operates within a Level I trauma center and serves a diverse patient population. You will focus on med/surg boarder patients within the ED, supported by assistive personnel, with a 1:5 patient ratio. ED experience is not required for this assignment.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for med/surg boarder patients within the ED, including comprehensive assessments and daily plans of care
- Monitor patient status, administer medications and IV therapies, manage telemetry, and respond to changes in condition
- Collaborate with ED physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate fast-paced care and ensure safe patient transitions
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record, including vitals, procedures, medications, and discharge plans
- Maintain infection control, safety procedures, and compliance with ED policies; participate in patient handoffs and care coordination
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Telemetry experience required
- Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg nursing experience
- NIHSS preferred but not required
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift with rotating D/E/N schedule; available for holidays, on-call, and weekends as needed
- Willingness to care for med/surg boarder patients in the ED setting
