Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within an assigned Med Surg unit.
- Assess patient needs through ongoing data collection on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status; address nutrition, pain, education, family involvement, and advocacy.
- Develop and implement a goal-directed plan of care, update it as patient needs evolve, and document changes clearly in the medical record.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the plan of care; involve the patient/family/designee in planning and decision-making.
- Delegate appropriately, coordinate duties of the health care team, and contribute to orientation and training of staff and students as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members; maintain compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; document as required in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
- Current, active RN license (California) or eligibility to practice in California.
- Med Surg nursing experience preferred.
- Ability to work 3x12-hour day shifts on a hospital unit.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and thorough, legible documentation.
- Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements and annual updates; vaccination policy adherence is part of organizational requirements.
- Willingness to participate in E-Verify and meet employment eligibility verification.
