Responsibilities
- Operate fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including vascular and cardiac catheterization cases (excluding EP or structural components), while adhering to ALARA and radiation safety policies.
- Perform post-processing of images and ensure images are transmitted to PACS; verify imaging readiness, room setup, and equipment functionality prior to each case.
- When assigned, function as the scrub technologist using sterile techniques to support physicians during interventional and catheter-based procedures; prepare and organize sterile instruments, catheters, sheaths, and procedural trays.
- Act as the primary monitor technologist when assigned, recording hemodynamic data and procedural events; operate physiological monitoring systems and document supplies, implants, contrast usage, and procedural details accurately.
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and peri-procedural tasks, including consent, timeout, and collaboration with nursing staff; provide support during sedation under supervision.
- Collaborate with nursing and physicians to address contrast allergies or sensitivities and participate in pre-procedure discussions regarding contrast agents; help ensure accurate documentation of allergies and precautions.
- Contribute to department operations by restocking supplies, tracking expiration dates, inspecting equipment, and supporting room turnover and post-procedure cleanup.
Requirements
- Licenses/certifications: Current Oregon State licensure issued by OBMI; ARRT certification, RT(R); current BLS and ACLS certification (or within 6 months of hire). Certifications specific to clinical specialty (e.g., RCIS) preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program; BS in Radiologic Science/Medical Imaging preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Interventional Radiology and/or Cath Lab managing fluoroscopy and scrubbing interventional cases. Preferred: 3 years in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab with fluoroscopy, scrubbing, and monitor role experience.
- Skills: Proficiency with fluoroscopy, radiographic imaging, contrast administration considerations, sterile technique, anatomy knowledge for vascular/cardiac procedures, and ability to work within regulatory protocols and department policies.
- Additional: Ability to work in a fast-paced, interprofessional environment; capability to document accurately and communicate findings in real time. Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred but not required.
