Responsibilities
- Scrub and circulate for a wide range of OR cases, including orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, GYN, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, and trauma (level 1 trauma center). Support transplant cases (livers, kidneys, hearts) and use of DaVinci robotic systems as needed.
- Prepare instruments and supplies, maintain sterile technique, and ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative period. Assist anesthesia, monitor telemetry as applicable, and document perioperative care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, anticipate intraoperative needs, manage equipment and implants, and participate in patient care planning for complex surgical cases.
- Float and provide coverage across perioperative services per unit needs; respond to on-call and callbacks in a timely manner; adhere to trauma center standards and unit protocols.
- Contribute to post-operative care coordination, including handoffs with the recovery team and accurate documentation of intraoperative events.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York (NY RN)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- Two (2) years operating room experience required
- Able to scrub and circulate
- Telemetry experience or capability required
- Level 1 trauma hospital experience highly desired
- ACLS certification preferred
