Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to PCU patients, including monitoring vitals, assessing responses to treatment, and implementing care plans
- Administer medications and therapies as prescribed, including IVs and advanced clinical interventions
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and transitions
- Document comprehensive and accurate patient information in the Epic electronic medical record
- Monitor for changes in patient condition, respond to emergencies, and escalate to the physician as needed
- Maintain unit safety, manage lines/tubes, telemetry, and assist with patient mobilization and discharge planning
- FLOAT: may float to sister campuses as needed; comply with unit policies and the 50-mile radius rule
Requirements
- Experience: 2 years of PCU (progressive care unit) experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Education: Degree accreditation must be on profile or 5 years of acute care experience required
- EMR: Proficiency with Epic EMR systems
- Scheduling and mobility: Ability to work 12-hour night shifts; willing to float to other campuses as needed; adheres to the 50-mile radius rule (no locals accepted)
- Licensure: Active RN license in the appropriate jurisdiction at the time of assignment (as required by the assigning organization)
