Registered Nurse, Med Surg (Travel) – Atlanta, GA | Start: 09/08/2026 | Duration: 13 weeks | Weekly pay: $1,682–$1,765 per week | Guaranteed hours: 36 per week | Shift: 2x3 Nights | Setting: high-acuity Med Surg unit on a hospital-based travel assignment
This assignment places you on a high-acuity surgical/trauma Med Surg floor, caring for adult patients with diverse surgical and traumatic needs. You will participate in patient-centered care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and document in the EPIC electronic medical record. The unit operates with Nursing Support Techs, a night unit secretary, and available phlebotomy support, with a nurse handoff occurring between the ED and admitting units.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult surgical and trauma patients on a high-acuity Med Surg floor, including post-operative and injury-related care.
- Monitor patient status, perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and IV therapies, manage wounds and pain, and respond to acute changes in condition.
- Document thoroughly in EPIC EMR, maintain accurate MARs, care plans, and charting to support safe transitions of care.
- Collaborate with ED and admitting units to ensure smooth nurse handoffs; work with Nursing Support Techs, the night unit secretary, and phlebotomists to coordinate care.
- Adhere to unit protocols, patient safety standards, and infection control practices; maintain patient ratios around 5:1 and escalate concerns as needed.
- Support a fast-paced, trauma-informed environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (state of practice in Georgia) or eligibility for practice
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg, with a focus on surgical/trauma patients
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to work night shift on a high-acuity unit; no RTO (no time off requests during assignment)
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
