Responsibilities
- Assess and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders; develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Conduct bedside swallow assessments and coordinate videofluoroscopic swallow studies when indicated; participate in swallowing evaluations as available.
- Document evaluations, goals, progress, and discharge plans in the medical record; monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed.
- Provide therapy across inpatient hospital services and outpatient clinics; collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient transitions and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on communication strategies and safe swallow practices; adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
Requirements
- New York state license in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology
- BLS certification
- Completion of clinical fellowship year
- Inpatient acute care experience preferred; swallowing bed evaluations and video fluoroscopy experience preferred
- Ability to work across inpatient and outpatient settings; willingness to travel within the local area as needed
