Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to adult patients on a Med-Surg unit, including post-operative and trauma populations; perform assessments, monitor vitals, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and provide wound care as ordered.
- Collaborate with the ED and admitting teams to complete nurse handoffs and ensure seamless patient transitions; document thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, respond to deteriorations, and escalate appropriately per protocol; maintain patient safety and comfort.
- Coordinate with unit staff (phlebotomists, unit secretaries at night) to support timely lab draws, admissions/discharges, and routine clinical workflows; maintain 5:1 patient ratios per unit guidelines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and patient/family education to support outcomes and readiness for transfer or discharge.
- Adhere to all hospital policies on infection control, medication administration, and patient privacy; document nursing care activities accurately and promptly.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Georgia
- BLS required; ACLS preferred; EPIC experience required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg or a high-acuity specialty unit
- Experience with surgical and trauma patient populations; ability to manage high-acuity care on a 12-hour day shift
- No time off (RTO) requests anticipated during the assignment; able to work in a hospital setting
