Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for adolescent inpatients with behavioral health needs, following established standards and the nursing process.
- Assess patients, analyze data, identify care issues, develop and implement plans, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor responses, and utilize crisis de-escalation strategies and CPI/TEAM protocols as required.
- Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff and support personnel; coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team and Mental Health Technicians.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; participate in rounds and treatment planning; provide education to patients and families; assist with discharge planning.
- Document care accurately; communicate changes to the treatment team; participate in on-call as needed.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California)
- BLS/CPR certification from an approved vendor
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A required
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS required; AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Acute care/inpatient behavioral health experience preferred
- At least two years of recent nursing experience in the field
- Ability to work night shifts in an inpatient behavioral health setting; ability to work with adolescent patients and collaborate with the care team
