Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients using the nursing process, consistent with the medical plan of care and input from patients and families.
- Collaborate with physicians and the health care team to implement patient care plans and coordinate delivery of services.
- Assess patient status, administer medications and treatments, monitor responses, and manage symptoms as appropriate.
- Facilitate discharge planning and provide patient and family teaching to support outcomes after leaving care.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to other licensed or unlicensed staff based on current competence and scope of practice.
- Document care accurately and maintain continuity of care across shifts.
Requirements
- Ability to perform professional nursing duties and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to care for patients across segments of age as determined by the assigned unit.
- Effective communication with patients, families, and the care team.
- Availability to participate in a 12-hour day shift schedule on a travel assignment.
- Demonstrated adaptability to a fast-paced, team-based environment.
