Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) in Hilo, Hawaii, United States. Start date: 08/24/2026 for a 15-week travel assignment. Weekly pay: $1,835–$1,922. Day shift with 36 hours per week planned after orientation; hours may vary and there is no guaranteed minimum. This hospital-based Med/Surg role focuses on adult patient care (18+) and may include float to other units as needed. Orientation is included during the first week, with onboarding requirements to complete health clearances prior to start.

Responsibilities
- Provide Med/Surg level nursing care to adult patients (18+) on an inpatient unit
- Administer medications, monitor patient status, perform assessments, and contribute to care plans
- Document in the unit’s electronic health records (Meditech EMR) and manage supplies via Pyxis
- Assist with wound care equipment (e.g., wound vac), chest tubes, and related ICU-level supports as appropriate
- May float to surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units as required by patient needs and staffing
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, educate patients and families, and ensure safety and quality care
Requirements
- Current Hawaii Registered Nurse license; active by start of assignment
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of med/surg or higher-level acute care experience
- Ability to work in a hospital setting and comply with unit policies
- Availability to arrive the Thursday before start for employee health clearance
- Education: RN degree from an accredited program
