Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, high-acuity nursing care to adult ICU patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and complex hemodynamic support.
- Monitor hemodynamics, titrate vasoactive/ cardiac drips, and manage continuous IV sedation/paralytics as ordered; respond to acute changes in patient status.
- Interpret dysrhythmias, manage 12-lead ECGs, and perform vascular access procedures (arterial lines, central lines, and PICC as applicable).
- Administer blood products and medications; implement infection control and ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services) and document care accurately in EPIC; participate in rounds and care planning.
- Maintain unit safety and patient advocacy; participate in ongoing orientation and professional development.
Requirements
- New York RN license in hand
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications
- Minimum ICU experience: 2 years (note: some compliance references mention 1 year)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Charge experience highly preferred
- Travel experience: travel experience may be required; first-time travelers may be considered
- Ability to work in a high-acuity hospital ICU setting; willingness to float as needed
- Orientation: 12 hours prior to start
- Unit details: adult patient population; 9 beds/rooms; typical staffing 2:1–3:1 depending on day/night/weekend coverage
