Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for neuro telemetry and step-down patients on the PCU
- Perform ongoing neurological assessments and NIHSS evaluations; monitor for changes in status
- Administer prescribed medications, including Cardene and Cleviprex, and manage IV therapies
- Read and interpret ECG rhythms; monitor cardiac status and intervene as needed
- Maintain accurate charting, telemetry data, vital signs, and medication administration records
- Collaborate with physicians, unit leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective patient care
- Float to adjacent units as required; adapt to unit needs while maintaining patient safety and quality of care
Requirements
- Active Florida registered nursing license
- Minimum 2 years of neuro/PCU experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
- Ability to read and interpret EKG rhythms
- Degree accreditation must be on profile or 5 years of experience required
- Must be able to float to Neuro, step-down, and PCU areas; comfortable with patient care ratios of approximately 1:4 to 1:5
- Legible documentation and adherence to safety, infection control, and hospital policies
