Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process across the adolescent inpatient behavioral health unit
- Monitor patient status, respond to crises, and assist in crisis de-escalation as part of the care team
- Administer prescribed medications, observe effects, and report adverse events; monitor cardiac rhythms as indicated
- Delegate appropriate tasks, supervise others as needed, and coordinate with interdisciplinary professionals
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, safety, and discharge planning
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and comply with unit policies and procedures
Requirements
- Current Maine RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- 1–3 years of nursing experience with children and adolescents preferred
- Basic dysrhythmia knowledge preferred or obtained before orientation
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained before orientation
- Ability to work well in high-stress situations and adapt to census-driven scheduling
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the assignment location
