Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel) | Saint Johnsbury Center, Vermont | Start 06/10/2026 | 13 weeks | $1,820-$1,923 per week | 36 guaranteed hours per week | Night shift (3x12-hour nights, 7pm-7am) | Critical Access Hospital Med/Surg setting
This assignment requires adult medical-surgical patient care with occasional pediatric patients in a general Med/Surg unit. You’ll participate in comprehensive care planning using the Nursing Process, collaborating with the Unit Director and leadership to meet diverse patient needs while maintaining a holistic approach to health, spirituality, psychosocial needs, and development.

- Setting: Critical Access Hospital general Med/Surg unit (adult and occasional pediatrics)

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients, with occasional pediatric cases, in a general Med/Surg unit using the Nursing Process to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Monitor patient status, assess needs, administer medications and treatments, and respond promptly to changes in condition; document findings accurately.
- Collaborate with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor; participate in shift handoffs and maintain patient safety and quality of care.
- Educate patients and families, coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, and assist with discharge planning and follow-up when applicable.
- Maintain compliance with clinical policies, infection control, and safety standards; document in the electronic medical record (Meditech experience preferred).
- Demonstrate flexibility to support the unit and adapt to a 24/7 hospital environment, including weekend coverage as required.

Requirements
- Active RN license in Vermont or multi-state licensure
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 3 years of acute care experience; Med/Surg experience strongly preferred; not pediatric-only
- Ability to care for adult patients with occasional pediatric patients in a general Med/Surg setting
- Credentialing readiness: required credentials uploaded five business days before start
- Flu vaccination required, with no exceptions
- Proficiency with standard hospital equipment and ability to work night shifts and every-other-weekend schedule
