Registered Nurse – Med Surg/Tele | Night shift (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), 3x12s | Newport, Vermont | Start 07/27/2026 | Travel - Temporary Assignment, 13 weeks | Weekly pay $2,062–$2,257 per week | Guaranteed hours 36 | Setting: a 25-bed critical access hospital in the Northeast Kingdom. This role involves night shift work with every-other-weekend rotation, and may include floating to ED or MCH as needed. The nurse should be able to work independently and perform charge nurse duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg and Telemetry patients on the night shift, including assessment, planning, and coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Function as charge nurse as needed, supervising assigned staff, coordinating patient assignments, and ensuring adherence to clinical policies and safety standards.
- Float to ED and MCH units when coverage is required, maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care across units.
- Support patient and family education, discharge planning, and collaboration with other care team members to ensure smooth care transitions.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (state requirements aligned with the assignment; VT licensure or eligibility as applicable)
- Experience in Med/Surg, PCU, or Telemetry units; ability to function across multiple units and to float when needed
- Ability to work independently on night shifts (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) with every-other-weekend rotation
- Demonstrated ability to perform charge nurse duties and manage unit workflow
- Effective communication and documentation skills; ability to collaborate with a broader care team in a rural hospital setting
