Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including monitoring vital signs and well-being of babies from around 22 weeks gestation and up.
- Manage neonatal respiratory support and ventilator management, including conventional vents, oscillators, CPAP, and high-flow modalities.
- Perform vascular/line care, including UAC, UVC, arterial lines, and central lines; monitor catheter integrity and function.
- Support feeding through bottle, breast, gavage, and OG/NG/NJ tube placement and management; monitor growth and nutrition tolerance.
- Administer medications and therapies such as surfactant and steroids as ordered; recognize and respond to neonatal abstinence syndrome and basic dysrhythmia cues.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Interpreter Services); participate in rounding and care coordination; float to related units as needed for babies.
- Conduct routine ROP screening coordination and assist with standard NICU procedures within scope.

Requirements
- License: Current WA RN license or WA Nursing Compact license; license must be in-hand at submittal.
- Certifications: BCLS and NRP required.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience; first-timers accepted per posting; preferred: prior charge nurse experience.
- Education: Not specified in posting; must be eligible to practice as a registered nurse in WA.
- Clinical environment: Ability to function in a Level II NICU setting with responsibilities that may include float to related neonatal care areas and adherence to unit protocols.
- Compliance: Willingness to complete pre-start modules (non-billable; average ~16 hours) and 12-hour orientation.
