Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adults recovering from ICU-level care on a high-acuity step-down unit, including ventilated/trach patients
- Manage vasoactive drips and insulin drips; titrate medications as ordered and monitor hemodynamic status
- Monitor and troubleshoot ventilators and arterial lines; manage chest tubes and respond to alarms
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias; interpret telemetry and coordinate with Rapid Response as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Unit Secretary) to support patient progression and discharge planning
- Document accurately in the electronic charting system (EPIC) and maintain patient safety throughout the shift
Requirements
- Active RN license or eligibility to practice in Missouri; pending license accepted per state rules
- Certifications: ACLS, BCLS (BLS), NIHSS; must meet facility compliance deadlines
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; must have been at bedside within the last 6 months; travel experience required; Trauma Level II experience required; Previous charge experience preferred
- Required skills: Telemetry, central/PICC/peripheral line care, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition; proficiency with ventilators and alarm troubleshooting; ability to manage vasopressor and insulin drips, arterial lines, and chest tubes
- Local candidate restriction: Local candidates within 75 miles of the assignment location are not accepted
