Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed ionizing radiation per treatment plan, verifying prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification
- Prepare the treatment room and equipment, including immobilization devices, and assist with patient positioning on the treatment couch
- Deliver the prescribed daily dose while observing radiation safety measures for patient and staff
- Explain procedures to patients and maintain clear communication during treatment
- Monitor patients for unusual reactions or evolving complications, and document findings; report reactions to the supervisor and department physician
- Maintain daily treatment logs and patient charts, ensuring accuracy of records and related reports; participate in clinical supervision and evaluation of students when applicable
Requirements
- Current California licensure to practice radiologic technology; CA licensure required
- AART-T (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy) – Required
- RTT certification – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – Required; CPR certification or BLS – Preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in radiologic technology or equivalent; Master’s Degree – Preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent radiologic technology experience
- Current nursing license per the state of assignment (as referenced in the job notes)
- Ability to work a travel assignment in the listed location and shift
