Responsibilities
- Prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a pathologist.
- Perform embedding, sectioning (cutting), staining, and grossing of small biopsies; maintain high-quality control.
- Process specimens accurately, manage labeling, and ensure proper slide & block tracking.
- Maintain equipment, follow safety precautions, and adhere to standard histology procedures and quality assurance practices.
- Document results and relevant data in the clinical information system (Epic AP experience preferred), while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support workflow and ensure timely turnaround and accurate reporting.
Requirements
- ASCP HT or HTL certification required
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Histology Technologist
- Well-rounded histology skills, including embedding, cutting, staining, and grossing of small biopsies; grossing experience required
- Epic AP experience required
- Ability to work days, 8-hour shifts, in a hospital laboratory setting
