Respiratory Therapist (Registered Respiratory Therapist) needed for a travel assignment in a critical access hospital setting in Willits, California. Start date: 08/03/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Responsibilities
- Assess and provide basic and critical respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients, following physician orders and department policies
- Administer aerosolized therapies and oxygen therapy; document therapy and patient response
- Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders; ensure accurate charting
- Provide care for ventilated patients, including monitoring, adjustments, and communication with the care team
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, flow sheets, and charge capture for each patient
- Participate in training and supervision of new staff as delegated and contribute to department operations
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential; Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA required); Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications; Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) preferred; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required; NBRC, registered or certified status required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent respiratory care experience; 2 years of recent critical care experience preferred
- Other: CPR/BLS must be current; must be able to work in an on-site hospital setting; must hold CA-specific licensure and NBRC credentials as listed
- Scheduling notes: Day shift; may require occasional night coverage (rare)
