Travel Registered Nurse ER Job
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ER) in San Luis Obispo, California. This travel assignment starts on 08/03/2026 and runs for 13 weeks, offering 36 guaranteed hours per week on a 3x12-hour night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) within a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting. The role provides comprehensive ED nursing care from newborns to geriatrics, with a focus on triage, treatment, and discharge.

Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate triage and initial assessment of all ED patients, communicating abnormal findings to the ED physician.
- Provide timely treatment and discharge planning, including patient and family education on medications and follow-up care.
- Administer medications, manage intravenous therapy, and monitor for adverse effects; reinforce teaching at discharge.
- Recognize and respond to cardiac, respiratory, and other emergent conditions; implement appropriate nursing interventions and escalate per chain of command.
- Interpret ECG rhythms, monitor patients during life-threatening events, and participate in Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations as needed.
- Maintain competence in routine ED skills, equipment use, catheter/drain care, and safe handling of blood products; ensure accurate documentation of orders and interventions.
Requirements
- Licenses: Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire or transfer; NIHSS; epIC experience; AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS; AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS as applicable.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: One year of acute care experience required.
- Additional: Current nursing license in the practicing state; ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and on a 7:00 PM–7:30 AM schedule; recent EPIC experience preferred.
