Responsibilities
- Triage, assess, and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department, providing timely and evidence-based care.
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, interpret assessments, and initiate appropriate interventions per RN scope.
- Document patient care in the electronic health record (EPIC) and collaborate with ED physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide ongoing patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination of post-ED care as indicated.
- Support hospital operations with accurate charting, infection control practices, and adherence to privacy and safety standards.
- Potentially float to ICU or other acute areas as needed; maintain flexibility to meet department needs.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Experience: At least one year of RN experience within the last 24 months with acute critical care experience within the last 12 months, or EMT/ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years of related experience and in good standing
- EPIC experience required
- MICN (Medical Control) desired within one year of hire; MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged
- Ability to work night shifts, meet physical demands of the role, and function effectively in a fast-paced ER environment
