Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult and older adult patients on a 32-bed med-surg unit.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in patient status; escalate to the team as needed.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders, including heparin drips and other acute medications; monitor for adverse effects and document appropriately.
- Manage telemetry monitoring and assist with procedures; utilize specialty equipment such as gait belts, geriatric chairs, and rehabilitation tools as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (physicians, therapists, case management) to coordinate effective discharge planning and ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the patient’s medical record per local policy and unit standards; uphold infection control and patient safety practices.
Requirements
- Active RN license to practice in Georgia (or eligibility to obtain licensure in Georgia).
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Documented med/surgical telemetry experience.
- Ability to work night shifts in an acute care setting; able to meet the demands of a 32-bed med-surg unit.
- NICHE training or prior skilled nursing/rehabilitation experience a plus.
- Education on file as part of RN qualification (consistent with standard nursing practice).
