Travel Psychiatric Technician Job
SMH Psych Tech - Child/Adolescent in Rochester, New York | Travel - Temporary Assignment | Start 04/27/2026 | 13 weeks | $818–$857 per week | 12-hour rotating shifts (D/E/N) | Inpatient psychiatric care setting
You will join a compassionate care team providing direct care and clinical support to pediatric/adolescent inpatients on an individual basis, under the direction of the RN. The role includes daily living support, social and psychiatric rehabilitation activities, and timely communication of patient needs and changes.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care to Child/Adolescent inpatients with psychiatric conditions, under RN supervision
- Support activities of daily living and participate in social and psychiatric rehabilitation as directed
- Communicate effectively with patients; ensure access to required services; inform RN of any changes in status
- Participate in rounds and contribute to group therapy sessions as needed
- Monitor patient safety, assist with crisis de-escalation per unit policy, and document observations
- Collaborate with the care team to support treatment plans and patient progress
Requirements
- 2 years of recent experience in a psychiatric care setting (preferred for pediatric/adolescent population)
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- Associate degree (AAS) in psychology or sociology
- Ability to work a rotating D/E/N shift and participate as a member of the patient-care team
- Eligibility to work in the listed location and comply with unit policies
