Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the ER, including triage, assessment, treatment, and stabilization of acute and critical conditions across a mixed adult and pediatric population.
- Monitor patients’ status with vital signs and telemetry, interpret data, administer medications and therapies per orders, and document in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, RNs, techs, and support staff to implement care plans, prepare patients for procedures or imaging, and provide timely updates to families as appropriate.
- Respond to emergencies and rapidly escalate as needed; participate in code situations and perform basic life support as required; ensure patient safety and infection control standards are followed.
- Coordinate discharge planning, patient education, and follow-up arrangements to support continuity of care after ER visits.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently, and participate in handoffs to receiving units when applicable.

Requirements
- Licensure: Current Massachusetts RN license at time of submission or an active MA temporary license.
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS required; PALS or ENPC preferred; TNCC recommended.
- Experience: 2+ years of ER nursing experience.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; eligible for RN licensure in MA.
- Special requirements: No local travelers accepted (candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility); must be separated for 6+ months from any permanent, per diem, or travel assignment to be considered.
- Onboarding and testing: Must pass telemetry ECG test and medications test on day one at orientation; 85% passing score with a single attempt; tests administered prior to assignment; ability to schedule testing within 48 hours of confirmation and complete within 1 week.
- Start readiness: Must be able to start on the stated start date; prior orientation and credentialing timelines will be communicated during confirmation.
