Responsibilities
- Assess patients across the lifespan (pediatric through geriatric), interpret evaluations and test results, and determine physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Administer physical therapy treatments using manual exercises, modalities, traction, and therapeutic devices; supervise and direct aides, technicians, and assistants.
- Evaluate treatment effects, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans; participate in discharge planning with the care team and design home exercise programs.
- Instruct patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs; teach use of assistive devices and prosthetic/orthotic fittings as appropriate.
- Maintain thorough documentation of services rendered in patient records; uphold confidentiality and infection-control practices; ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Contribute to team knowledge through in-service training, stay current with professional standards, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Active Physical Therapy license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical and mental dysfunctions; ability to counsel and guide patients.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles, customer service, and effective communication; proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and document physical therapy care for a diverse patient population in a hospital setting.
- Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals; maintain professional standards and patient confidentiality.
