Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient group in CVICU according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Conduct ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, administer treatments, and monitor responses.
- Supervise and direct activities of nursing staff at multiple levels; ensure safe, effective care and appropriate delegation.
- Coordinate care with physicians, respiratory therapists, perfusionists, and other disciplines; communicate changes in patient status clearly and timely.
- Exercise critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent decision-making in high-acuity situations; maintain patient safety and comfort.
- Document care accurately in the medical record and participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- CVICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to supervise nursing staff and coordinate multidisciplinary care
