Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit for adult and geriatric patients
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, and perform IV starts and peripheral line work
- Care for central lines and perform blood draws as indicated; manage wound care and ostomy/feeding tube needs
- Assist with phlebotomy, blood product administration, and infection-control precautions
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and adjust patient care plans; document and communicate changes in patient condition
- Maintain standardized charting and ensure patient safety, including isolation precautions when required

Requirements
- Active New York State RN license at time of submission; BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of acute hospital nursing experience
- EKG competency: Travelers must complete Relias EKG exam within 72 hours of signing; onsite exam requires 85% overall with correct rhythm identifications
- Healthstream/onboarding: All required modules completed by 7:00 AM Wednesday prior to start (exceptions noted); RN orientation estimated at 12–15 hours (non-billable)
- Residency restrictions: No candidates with primary residence within 50 miles of Saratoga, NY; listed counties excluded include Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster
- Documentation at submission: SSN/DOB, recent Nursys verification, certifications, and references
- Additional prerequisites: On this unit, weekend shifts are required; float within hospital per manager’s discretion (within skillset); no call
- Perm staff/alumni policy: Perm staff or Albany Medical Center staff must be separated from facility for one year before returning as a traveler
