Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to PCU patients, including assessment, monitoring, and timely escalation of changes in condition
- Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and assist with invasive procedures as indicated
- Monitor telemetry, interpret basic rhythms, and respond to emergencies per unit protocol
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, case management, and ancillary staff to coordinate care and discharge planning
- Document care activities and patient responses accurately in the Epic electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge instructions
- Ensure patient safety and comfort while maintaining high quality standards and adherence to policy
Requirements
- Current RN license in Florida or a compact license; recent Nursys on profile
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
- RN degree from an accredited program; degree accreditation must be on profile or applicant must have 5 years of acute care experience
- Epic EMR experience
- Ability to float to other campus locations as needed
- Radius rule: within 50 miles of the permanent address on file
- Hard document deadline: Monday prior to start; no exceptions for pending documents
- Culture and teamwork: travelers are expected to function as core staff and integrate with the unit
