Travel Registered Nurse First Assist Job
OR RN First Assist - RNFA in Templeton, California, United States. Start date: 04/13/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment. Weekly pay: $2,584–$2,716 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.0. Shift: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (4x10 Days). Setting: acute care surgical services in an inpatient environment. This position requires RNFA certification and experience as an operating room first assistant with orthopedic, total joint, gynecologic, and general surgery cases.

Responsibilities
- Provide RN First Assist coverage during operative procedures across orthopedic, orthopedic totals, gynecologic, and general surgery cases, including scrub and circulate roles.
- Maintain sterile technique, manage surgical instruments, retractors, and supplies, and assist with hemostasis and tissue handling under the surgeon’s direction.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, participate in planning, and assist with wound closure and implant handling when applicable.
- Collaborate with the anesthesia and circulating teams to promote patient safety, accurate counts, and documentation of intraoperative events.
- Participate in the on-call schedule as required (one night per week).
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of a school of nursing; RN licensure in the state of practice (California)
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN license in California; certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course; CNOR required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility; must have worked in the submitted unit specialty within the last 3 months
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS or HS-ACLS or RQI-ACLS required; PALS preferred
- Other: Current professional liability insurance; ability to work in an acute care setting and participate in on-call requirements
