Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative first-assist support as RNFA, with experience in ortho, ortho totals, gyn, and general surgery.
- Assist surgeon with exposure, tissue handling, suturing, hemostasis, and wound closure; scrub and circulate; maintain sterile field.
- Prepare operating room and equipment; verify counts; assist with patient positioning; manage instrumentation and specimen handling.
- Monitor patient status during surgery; communicate with anesthesia team; document intraoperative events; ensure patient safety and accurate handoffs.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to optimize turnover and workflow; participate in quality and safety practices; adhere to annual surgeon review processes.
- Document perioperative care and ensure accurate records for postoperative handoff and continuity of care.

Requirements
- Current California RN license (active)
- Certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course (RNFA) and CNOR certification required
- Three years of scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility; minimum 3 months in the submitted unit specialty within the last 3 months
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (ACLS or HS-ACLS or RQI-ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Current Professional Liability insurance required
- Annual surgeon review required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative setting and participate in on-call expectations (one night per week)
