Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care for inpatients across NICU, PICU, Adult ICU, and general units, including ventilator management, airway care, suctioning, and airway clearance strategies.
- Administer inhaled therapies (nebulized medications, MDI/SPA techniques) and optimize therapy based on patient response and orders.
- Interpret and respond to patient data (including ABG results) and adjust therapy accordingly; monitor ventilator settings and wean when appropriate.
- Perform routine procedures (PAP/CPAP, NIV, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy) and document care accurately in the Epic EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the broader multidisciplinary team; participate in rounds and ensure patient safety and critical-event readiness.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all interventions and progress notes; participate in handoffs and ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with licensure on file; CRT not accepted
- NBRC verification required; certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient respiratory therapy experience; prior travel and teaching-hospital experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Availability for 3x12 night shifts; weekends as needed; schedule flexibility required
- Knowledge of inpatient respiratory protocols and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Reliable transportation required; public transit not available in the area
