Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) | Utica, NY | Start 06/22/2026 | 13 weeks | $2,134–$2,307 per week | 36 guaranteed hours per week | Shift: 2x3 days (6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) | Hospital setting
This travel assignment places an experienced Med‑Surg RN on an adult unit with a focus on post‑operative and general medical–surgical care. The role includes floating to other units as needed and uses EPIC for charting. The assignment length is 13 weeks with a guaranteed 36 hours per week, and it begins in late June 2026 in Utica, New York.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to adult Med‑Surg patients, including post‑operative care for conditions such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric/post‑operative obesity.
- Monitor patient status, perform assessments, interpret changes, and document findings in EPIC EMR; respond promptly to changes in patient conditions.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapy with pumps, and maintain NG/feeding tube care as ordered; perform routine wound care and dressing changes.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, rehabilitation services, and social work to plan and coordinate care; participate in discharge planning and patient education.
- Ensure safe, high‑quality care with emphasis on infection prevention, patient safety, and accurate documentation; navigate unit–specific procedures and patient needs as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education on care plans, medications, and post‑discharge instructions.
Requirements
- Active NY RN license with Nursys verification; all active RN licenses must be documented
- AHA BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of Med‑Surg (adult) experience; travel experience required
- EPIC EMR experience
- Driver’s license with address that matches demographics
- Ready to float to other units as needed; RTO (time off) requests must be included at submission
- Local rate option available for applicants within 75 miles
